My Song
The Story
I am not musically inclined-- I love music, but I have always told myself that beyond the words, I am unworthy of creating music. I don't hear tone like some do, I can't "see" notes like some do. So, It came to me, "I can ask AI to make an image... why not my words to music." I don't know Lauren Daigle (a real inspiration to me) so I couldn't just email her... but a tiny bit of research and it turns out I can give it a go. And many thousands of people do (Suno | AI Music Generator)
Oddly, I felt sort of dirty- because Lauren knows the music, she knows the angles (and the Angels). She would know what a "lift" is. She would know what "G major and we lift to A♭ major" means. I do not.
Am I cheating? Some would say yes, but I wanted my words to have a adjuvant (a "substance that modulates my message" which, in this case, is music).
In this day and age, the amazing creators of music out there may speak to me in snippets. They brought me through dark times, and I realized the power of these amazing people. So-- I could either grab my guitar and seek music lessons, wait for six years and hope I stick with it. Or I could send the lyrics to some formless person behind email that would pick them apart.
Or go test my lyrics with a tool online that simply follows instructions.
This is the process I went though with Chat GPT several months ago:
The “Session”
I need this in something I can put to music on suno or some other music creator. It came to me reading Philippians 4:6:
"Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
This is my poem:
You give me peace with uncertainty
Healing where the pain still stays
Grace that meets me in the chaos
Joy that finds me anyway
When the room is quiet and I’m lonely
When the noise won’t let me sleep
You are love that doesn’t leave me
I’ve tried to outrun the waiting
Tried to fix what I can’t mend
But every scar You don’t erase
You somehow turn to strength
I thought joy needed company
A crowd to make it real
But You sit with me in silence
And it’s there I start to heal
AI Response:
Got it. Think quiet strength, honest ache, hope that refuses to panic. Here’s a song you can sing softly or let swell near the end.
“Still With Me”
Verse 1
I don’t know what tomorrow holds
I don’t see the end in sight
But I’ve learned You’re not offended
By my questions in the night
The road feels thin beneath my feet
The answers come in parts
But You’ve never asked for certainty
You only want my heart
Pre-Chorus
So I breathe You in when fear is loud
I let go of what I can’t control
Chorus
You give me peace with uncertainty
Healing where the pain still stays
Grace that meets me in the chaos
Joy that finds me anyway
When the room is quiet and I’m lonely
When the noise won’t let me sleep
You are love that doesn’t leave me
You are still with me
Verse 2
I’ve tried to outrun the waiting
Tried to fix what I can’t mend
But every scar You don’t erase
You somehow turn to strength
I thought joy needed company
A crowd to make it real
But You sit with me in silence
And it’s there I start to heal
Pre-Chorus
You don’t rush the breaking open
You don’t shame my fragile faith
Chorus
You give me peace with uncertainty
Healing where the pain still stays
Grace that meets me in the chaos
Joy that finds me anyway
When the room is quiet and I’m lonely
When the noise won’t let me sleep
You are love that doesn’t leave me
You are still with me
Bridge
I don’t need all the answers now
I just need to know You’re near
If You’re holding every moment
I can face another year
You don’t love me when I’m fearless
You don’t wait till I’m okay
You love me right here in the middle
And that love won’t walk away
(soft drop)
It won’t walk away
Chorus (build)
You give me peace with uncertainty
Healing where the pain still stays
Grace that meets me in the chaos
Joy that finds me anyway
In the valley, on the mountain
In the silence, in the sound
You are love that never fails me
You are here, You are now
Outro
So I’ll trust You with the questions
I’ll lay my worries down
If You’re here in every moment
I’m already safe somehow
You are love
Always love
You are still with me
If you want, I can:
tighten this to radio length
add a key change / final chorus lift
rewrite it more congregational or more personal
shape it for a female or male vocal range
or tune the language even closer to Lauren Daigle’s cadence without copying her phrasing
Just say the word.
Me: key change, with lift (whatever that is)
AI Response:
Perfect — here’s a clean, emotional key change that earns the lift, not a cheesy mod-up-for-no-reason move. This is the kind that makes people stop singing and start listening… then join back in.
I’ll assume the song is in G major and we lift to A♭ major (a half-step feels intimate and powerful, very Daigle-coded).
KEY CHANGE MOMENT (with lift)
Bridge (last pass – pull it back)
(Drop instruments. Piano pad only. Almost whispered.)
I don’t need all the answers now
I just need to know You’re near
If You’re holding every moment
I can face another year
(pause — breathe)
You don’t love me when I’m fearless
You don’t wait till I’m okay
You love me right here in the middle
And that love won’t walk away
TURNAROUND (instrumental breath)
(Drums swell. Choir pad rises. One beat of silence.)
— KEY CHANGE UP —
FINAL CHORUS (Lifted / New Key)
You give me peace with uncertainty
Healing where the pain still stays
Grace that meets me in the chaos
Joy that finds me anyway
When the room is quiet and I’m lonely
When the noise won’t let me sleep
You are love that doesn’t leave me
You are still with me
TAG (hold the room)
(Repeat softly, then build)
Still with me…
Still with me…
(final hit)
You are love
Always love
You are still with me
WHY THIS WORKS
The drop before the key change makes the lift feel earned
The half-step change lifts emotion, not ego
Final chorus stays lyrically familiar so the heart feels it before the brain notices the key
The repeated “Still with me” becomes a communal confession, not a hook
If you want, next we can:
choose exact chords for piano/guitar
adjust the lift for live worship vs studio
add a choir or octave harmony map
or rewrite the final chorus slightly so the key change also introduces new lyrical emphasis
This one’s got legs.
🌿Where I am with this
.... that was it-- no other instruction. Notice that the Ai recognized my hero, Lauren Daigle, that was a good sign. So I put that into a music generator and here is the result:
How do I feel? I feel more reverence and awe to the creators who do this from A-to-Z. I feel a real concern that AI can create something from a few words I input that may reduce the relevance they hold close to their hearts. But I also know AI is not the enemy. It helped a non-creative dummy about music like me have a voice. Yea, it’s a woman’s voice but that seems right.
How do we bridge this gap? We need our muse-- those people that open our heart. They need to remain not just relevant but also prospered. I hope this age recognizes them for the power of their knowledge and creativity.
Never forget, Ai learned from THEM, not the other way around.
I don't know what that means for humanity overall, and I'm interested in your opinion, but this song speaks to ME. It may not be that for you. The words themselves give me a lot, but behind the God-given gift of music, they go straight into my heart.
🤵 Pastoral Word
People passionate about speaking a message need to speak it and use all the tools at their disposal. It wasn’t that long ago the printing press came out and revolutionized the way we communicate. It’s why we have all the bible translations we do.
Ai is no different, it just feels different— because we operate in fear.
Many of the images I use are designed by me, and “developed” by AI. Endless searches for the perfect emotional image have taught me that it is a losing endeavor. Even when you find one, they have the signature (or “watermark”) of some human behind them, and they want money for it.
I don’t charge for what I say. I don’t charge for what I produce. It all has a cost, but I do it for me, and for you.
I spent the last 8 hours curating a bible database I created. I’m 4000 verses in and 27,000 verses to go and I’m only on Leviticus… but I’ve learned a lot in the process. My bible search is, and will always remain free and I guarantee it will be among the best in the world.
